Bengaluru: Higher Education Minister C. N. Ashwath Narayan on Monday October 17 spoke with Adichunchanagiri Mutt pontiff Nirmalanandanatha Swami and other Vokkaliga leaders as the 108-foot statue of Bengaluru founder Kempegowda will be unveiled by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on November 11.
Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai, advised Narayan to meet the seer. Narayan is also Vice-Chairman of the Kempegowda Heritage Area Development Authority.The pontiff assured that his mutt will give support and cooperation for the event to be a success.
The government is spending Rs. 85 Crore on the bronze Kempegowda statue. The statue is situated on 23-acre land near Kempegowda International Airport in Devanahalli.
The Minister also said that the ‘sacred mud’ collection campaign from all of the State’s villages will begin on October 21 in front of the Vidhana Soudha. The mud collected will be used to create the landscaping project that will surround the Kempegowda statue.
Bommai will unveil the statue on the premises of the Vidhana Soudha on the same day.
