Bengaluru: The First Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate court has denied the bail application filed by Additional Director General of Police, Amrit Paul on Monday July 25. He was detained by the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) in connection with the Police Sub-Inspector (PSI) recruitment scam.

The court also denied the CID petition seeking permission to have Paul take a polygraph (lie detector test).

Paul filed a bail application with the court last week after he was arrested on July 4 by CID officers who were investigating the scam. The prosecution had objected to giving him bail, saying that since the investigation was still ongoing, putting him on bail now might hamper the investigation.

Meanwhile, the court rejected the CID’s petition asking for authorisation to do a polygraph test on Paul. The Defence attorney counsel claimed that since Paul had health issues, the lie detector test may have an adverse impact on his health, despite the prosecution’s contention that the accused had not cooperated with the inquiry and that a lie detector test was necessary.
