Bengaluru: The Revenue Department has issued an order prohibiting cultural organisations from raising the Tricolor or holding cultural events in the Chamarajapete Eidgah Maidan on the occasion of the nation’s 75th Independence Day on August 15, to maintain peace in the region.
According to a department order released on Friday August 12, various organisations had asked the state government for permission to hoist the Tricolor at the Chamarajapete ground on Monday. A number of right-wing organisations and the local MLA Zameer Ahmad Khan requested permission from the State Government to hoist the Tricolor.
A Revenue Department Officer with Assistant Commissioner rank will hoist the flag. Minister for Revenue R. Ashoka said that to perform any cultural activity, including Ganesha Chaturti celebrations, on the ground, permission must first be acquired from the department.
