Bengaluru: The Nelamangala sub-division police shot a habitual robber in his right leg on the morning of Wednesday November 23 after he tried to escape by assaulting a police officer with a cement block.
According to sources, the police were taking him to spot mazhar and also to recover a gold chain from a place where the accused had kept. The officers warned him to surrender by opening two rounds in the air.
The culprit has been identified as Yogananda, also known as “Night Shift Yoga.” He is wanted in more than 15 cases, involving murder, highway robberies, dacoity, and other crimes. He is facing charges in Tumakuru District Police, Bengaluru District Police, and Bengaluru Rural Police.
He was detained in Hebbal in Mysuru by the Nelamangala Town police in connection with a robbery case, and they were taking him to the site to conduct the procedure.
A 50-gm gold chain was seized from him by the police.
