Bengaluru: The 212th annual Lalbagh flower show is all set to take place between Aught 5 to 15. The cost of hosting the show, which has as its theme Kannada matinee icon Dr. Rajkumar and his son Puneeth Rajkumar, is Rs 2.5 Crore.
Speaking to mediapersons Horticulture Minister Muniratna Naiduon Wednesday August 3 said, “The show will be held from August 5 to August 15 and that tickets would cost between Rs. 70 during the weekdays and Rs. 75 on the weekends.”
He further said that the show will be free for schoolchildren provided they come in uniform. “Parking arrangements will be made at the current rates. Participants in the exhibition will compete, and the winners will get a trophy.
“We got flowers from many other countries, including Ooty, New Zealand, the US, Holland, Argentina, Kenya, etc. Over 65 different varieties of flower plants will bloom all year long in the glass house in the botanical garden,” the Minister said.
The replicas of Dr. Rajkumar’s house in Gajanuru and Puneeth Rajkumar’s rehab centre, Shakti Dhama, will be made out of rose and chrysanthemum flowers. Joint Director of Lalbagh M. Jagadeesha stressed the security measures in place, which include 50 home guards, 350 personnel of the quick response squad, and 125 CCTV cameras.
A torch light will be ignited at the samadhi of Dr. Raj and Puneeth Rajkumar, and it will be placed in Lalbagh until the event is over.
