Bengaluru Rural: “Due to the increased use of mobile phones, especially the young people, the taste of literature and reading books are fading away. Students can learn the language of their choice and the use of Kannada should be given priority, said Devaraja Urs Educational Institution Vice-President J. Rajendra.
Speaking at a literary and Science and Culture Meet held at Devaraja Urs College of Business Management in association with Kannada Sahitya Parishat and Kannada Jagruti Parishat here, he said, “Due to the impact of urbanisation, the use of Kannada language is decreasing. It has a history of 2,000 to 2,500 years, our Jnanpitha Award, the National Award and the classical status of Kannada are proof that kantnada is a rich, prosperous language.”
