Bengaluru Rural: Being a plain area, farmers are growing tomatoes and other crops with little water available. Due to incessant rains and cold conditions, the tomato crop is getting damaged and destroyed, causing panic among the farmers.
Despite being close to Bengaluru in Bengaluru Rural District, farmers are making a living by growing horticultural crops. Though land acquisition processes are being carried out for various purposes in the District, they are growing horticultural crops on their meagre land. The ground water level in the borewells has also increased due to continuous rains.
The farmers are worried that due to the recent depression in the Bay of Bengal, the rains and cold for the last three to four days have resulted in the death of the tomato crop.
