Bengaluru: The satellite named after late Sandalwood actor Puneeth Rajkumar being developed by the government school students will be launched into orbit between November 15 and December 31, said State Higher Education Minister Dr. Ashwath Narayan.
Speaking to mediapersons after a review meeting of the project on Thursday August 25, he said that, “school and college students are being involved in a variety of competitions organised in the zonal and state levels on the account of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav. As many as 1000 students selected will be taken to ISRO at Sriharikota of Andhra Pradesh, he said.
While the country is celebrating its 75th year of Independence Prime Minister Narendra Modi has announced launching of 75 satellites. In this regard the KGS3Sat satellite is being developed by the government school students of Bengaluru at the cost of Rs 1.90 Crore, which will be named as Puneeth in memory of late Sandalwood actor Puneeth Rajkumar and will be the first satellite to be launched under the Prime Minister’s initiative, he asserted.
