Bengaluru: Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai on Monday November 21 gave instructions to authorities to use government-owned commercial complexes to run government offices and provide public services.
He was speaking after laying the foundation stone for a commercial complex being built by the Karnataka Rural Infrastructure Development Limited (KRIDL) in Bommanahalli. “The rapid growth of Bengaluru calls for better public services,” he said.
“‘The City is growing in all directions and this calls for the appointment of more government officials, including engineers and joint commissioners. Even though the government has appointed many of these individuals, they must, however, work from the head office due to a lack of space in the particular zones,” said Bommai.
Speaking further he said that as the government has been spending crores on setting up government spaces and yet there is still a space shortage, it is a good idea to mix commercial activities with government offices in government-owned commercial complexes.
Bommanahalli’s nine-floor tower is being built for an estimated Rs. 91 Crore. Bommai said that several such projects will be launched throughout the State.
