Bengaluru: Opposition leader Siddaramaiah requested a judicial inquiry in the assembly on Tuesday by a sitting judge amid the uproar around the alleged scam in the recruitment of 545 Police Sub Inspectors (PSIs). He also demanded that the government protect the interests of innocent candidates. JD (S) leader H. D. Kumaraswamy issued appointment orders and stated that innocent candidates should be separated from the accused.
” The government had tried to hush up the scandal and cover-up for politicians. A court investigation alone will reveal those engaged in the scam,” Siddaramaiah argued, adding that the accused, former ADGP Amrit Paul, should undergo narcoanalysis.
“The trial is underway. We have detained 97 people, including 27 police officers,” he said.
He said that there was a scam in the recruitment of PSIs in 2016–17 and the hiring of teachers under the Siddaramaiah government, but that no action was taken. The guilty will be punished, but our government has ordered a probe into the scam,” he added
Meanwhile, Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai pledged an investigation into the matter of BJP MLA Basavaraj Dadesuguru of Kanakagiri’s alleged involvement. He claimed that R. D. Patil, one of the accused, was a member of Congress, while Congress MLAs claimed that Divya Hagaragi was the president of the Kalaburagi BJP women’s wing.
Chittapur MLA Priyank Kharge is accused of conspiring with R. D. Patil and failing to provide the investigation officer with evidence, particularly the audio tape, said Law and Parliamentary Affairs Minister J. C. Madhuswamy. In response, Priyank claimed that a newspaper had exposed the scam and that he had held a press conference as a result. “If you are fair, order a judicial inquiry.” H. K. Patil, the leader of the Congress, strongly objected to Madhuswamy shifting the burden of proof to Priyank.
