Bengaluru: Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai on Sunday November 6 said that the State Government will investigate the Solar scam that happened when private persons were given licenses to generate solar power while Congress was in power in the State.

Speaking to mediapersons, Bommai said that the State Government was not probing the Pavagada Solar Plant, but it will look into the issuance of licenses to private parties immediately after the release of tender bids.

The Government was laying the groundwork for a probe into the claims of irregularities in the selection process for solar power plants under the Siddaramaiah Government. It can be recalled that KPCC Chief D. K. Shivakumar was the Energy Minister then.

For an inquiry, a 50-page note had been submitted.

Channaraj Hattiholi, a sitting MLC and brother of Congress MLA Laxmi Hebblikar, had one of his applications for solar power units approved. Girija Hattiholi, the mother of Laxmi, was also an applicant.

The note state that, “In August 2014, Channaraj and Girija had purchased agricultural land just one month before the online application process. Their applications were admitted in just 52 seconds from the start of the process. This raises the question of whether this was a pre-planned irregularity.”
