Bengaluru: In this monsoon season, 224 TMC of water has been released to Tamil Nadu from Krishna Raja Sagara (KRS) dam which is the highest since 1974.
According to the data shared by the Revenue Minister R. Ashok, the Biligundlu water measurement centre recorded the flow of 224 TMC following heavy inflow and outflow in the River Cauvery and its tributaries.
This means this year, the Cauvery water dispute is unlikely to arise as State has released excess water to the TN. Adding to this as heavy rain continued, all the reservoirs of the old Mysuru region is full now and water level likely to help the Government to tackle the summer situation.
According to R. Ashok, till now loss due to the rain and flood is estimated at Rs.12,319 Crore, which includes 134 deaths.
“All the 227 taluks of the State received excess rainfall. Many parts of the State received record rainfall of 50 years,” he explained.
