Bengaluru: The State will go ahead with the Kalasa-Banduri project on the River Mhadei despite opposition from neighbouring Goa, said Water Resources Minister Govind Karjol on Monday January 2.
No one should object to the water share that the Tribunal has awarded, he said, referring to the allocation of 13.42 tmcft from the River Mahadayi to Karnataka by the 2020 Mhadei Water Disputes Tribunal.
Speaking to mediapersons he said, “Karnataka does not need any permission (from Goa) to use the water awarded to the State.”
He made this remark in reaction to the Goa Government’s decision to protest the approval of the Kalasa-Banduri Nala Project’s Detailed Project Report (DPR) by sending an all-party delegation to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and other senior Union ministers.
