Bengaluru: Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai said the government is ready for special financial assistance for the survey to be done on the effect of programmes on social and economic changes of the people.

Speaking after inaugurating a new hostel building of ISAC here on Friday January 20, he said Prime Minister Narendra Modi is thinking of development in the next 25 years. “The time of seeing India with respect has come. The PM thinks about the grassroots levels. The State Government aims at contributing one trillion-dollar economy of the five trillion economies planned by the PM for India. It will be good if a report is submitted on the changes in people due to the increase in the State’s economy,” he said.

The CM said Professor Rao thought about the social challenges way back in the 60s and built this institution. “A man may change but the values are permanent. The man changes as he grows and as civilisation increases, the cultural values decline. Confusion remains always but ensures solutions. They need to understand the difference between civilisation and culture. Despite achieving many things, they have forgotten culture and a study is required to know about its level,” said Bommai.

He said once the students obtain PhD, their aspirations such as jobs, promotions and becoming Heads of departments go on increasing. But the happiness that they will enjoy as the students will not be there once they become Head. “Politicians think about how to do administration and the administrators think about how to control. They must understand the difference between economy and economics. The economy changes because of social changes,” Bommai said.

ISAC Director D. Rajashekar, Registrar Ashok Rao and others were present.
