Bengaluru: Three family members allegedly died after setting themselves on fire at their home in HSR Layout, informed the police.
The deceased have been identified as Santhosh Kumar (54), his wife Oman Santhosh (50), and daughter Sanusha Santhosh (17). Santhosh, a native of Kerala, ran a business making spare parts while residing with his family in HSR Layout 3rd stage.

Locals noticed dense smoke at Santhosh’s home early on Friday morning and informed the emergency numbers. Fire tenders and HSR Police officers rushed to the spot. They had to break the front door since the house was found to be locked from the inside. The charred remains of three persons were found within the house.

The situation is being treated by police as a suicide. Although the exact causes are still unknown, investigators believe financial difficulties may be the reason for the extreme step. According to a preliminary investigation, kerosene was used to start the fire, informed the police.

Police said that the bodies have been sent for an autopsy. Further action will be taken, after Santhosh’s family arrives. A case has been registered at the HSR Layout Police Station.
