Bengaluru tech professional arrested for poisoning partner in chilling cover-up

A shocking murder in Bengaluru’s Spice Garden area has exposed the obsessive and controlling behavior of 53-year-old tech professional Imdad Basha. He allegedly poisoned his partner, 45-year-old Uzma Khan, in a jealous rage and staged the crime as a joint suicide.

The Crime
Basha and Uzma, relatives separated from their respective spouses, had been in a relationship for years. Tensions arose when Uzma decided to marry a Pakistani national working in Australia. On January 1, Basha claimed they had entered a suicide pact, but evidence revealed otherwise. Uzma’s postmortem report indicated she died hours before Basha’s staged messages to relatives.

The Investigation
Police uncovered that Basha poisoned Uzma with real toxins while ingesting a non-lethal toilet cleaner himself. Additionally, Basha had installed spyware on Uzma’s phone, tracking her conversations about her upcoming marriage, which fueled his jealousy.

Arrest and Evidence
Based on a complaint by Uzma’s brother, Himayath Khan, Basha was arrested. Police are awaiting forensic reports to determine whether Uzma was also strangled. “The evidence points to meticulous planning,” an officer stated.

This tragic case highlights the dangers of obsessive control in relationships and the lengths to which jealousy can drive someone.
