Bengaluru: Three new airports will be come up in the State this year, and another three will be added the next year, said Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai.
Addressing the annual conference of the South Indian Hotels and Restaurants Association on the evening of Saturday November 19, he promised to build airstrips to help people travel to distant places. The places of the new airports that will be developed in the State, however, were not disclosed by him.
Bommai said during the conference that to decongest the City, five new cities with all modern facilities will be built in the State and will be called ‘Nava Karnataka.’
In Bengaluru traffic density is common as lakhs of people come here daily, in addition, there is also a rapid increase in the number of people working in the City, he added.
Bommai further said that everyone likes Bengaluru and about 10,000 scientists travel through the airport there each year. Bengaluru, one of the most popular tourist destinations in the nation, is home to about 400 Research and Development labs.
He promised to look into the Association’s requests for a GST concession. Minister for Tourism Anand Singh and Association president Shyam Raju and office-bearers were present.
