Bengaluru: Chief Minister on Wednesday December 7 announced plans to build an international airport in the Tumakuru District to reduce air traffic at Kempegowda International Airport (KIA).

Speaking at a Jana Sankalpa Yatre in Kunikal he said, “The proposed international airport in Tumakuru will reduce the congestion in Bengaluru airport and will provide the impetus to progress in the district.”

Tumakuru’s transformation into an industrial hub has been emphasized. Over 1,000 acres in the area will be turned into an industrial township. This will greatly accelerate economic growth while also aiding in the creation of jobs, he added.

“The previous Congress government made Lokayukta institution powerless by forming ACB and made sure cases against its leaders were concluded with B reports.

They committed fraud in the name of Anna Bhagya Yojane. Their present mantra against our government is the 40 per cent commission. Congress is the Gangotri of corruption,” said Bommai.
