Bengaluru: Education Minister B. C. Nagesh announced that Clarence High School in Bengaluru has been issued a notice for insisting on carrying/studying the Bible as part of the curriculum.

He mentioned that they will take legal action against them, as well as any other institution that does the same. “Any educational institution recognised in Karnataka is bound to the Karnataka Education Act, and they cannot force students to study a religious book as part of the curriculum,” he said.

He said that they had mentioned on their website that the Bible will be included in their curriculum, so let them respond.

The Minister also said that tough minority institutions are more lenient in administrative matters, they are not so lenient when it comes to forcing students to read religious books, he added. The school administration has stated on their website: “Clarence High School is a unique blend of tradition, excellence, and Christian education.”

Clarence High School has served the people of Bengaluru City for the past 100 years by providing a high standard of Bible-based education. School officials have claimed that they will abide by the law and that they are in touch with advocates for the issue, he added. Nagesh has also received a memorandum from Hindu Jana Jagruthi Samithi.
