Bengaluru: One of the superfast express trains operated between Mysuru city and Bengaluru is named after Tipu Sultan. This train is popularly called as Tipu Express, which covers a distance of 136 kilometers in two hours and 15 minutes. After opposing the Tipu Jayanti, now the BJP wants to rename this train with any names of the Maharajas of Mysuru.
Participating in an interactive event on the Tipu Jayanti organised at the Mythic Society in the city on Tuesday evening, party spokesperson Sudhanshu Trivedi assured of raising the issue with the railway minister. Replying to a question posed by an audience on the Tipu Express, he assured that the train will be renamed after Chamaraja Wadiyar.
Speaking on the occasion, Trivedi alleged that Tipu is glorified as part of the vote bank of politics.
