Bengaluru: The CEN Police has launched an investigation after a 38-year-old resident from Rajajinagar approached alleging that a person duped him to the tune of Rs. 86 Lakh in the name of finding a customer for his kidney.

In his complaint to the police, the victim alleged that he met a person by name Abhijith on internet and they were friends. “As my financial position has not been good, I wanted to sell one of my kidneys. Abhijith assured me that he will find a customer in Delhi. Later he collected Rs. 86 Lakh from me in the name of health insurance, doctor’s fee, airfare etc. Now the youth is not traceable,” he alleged.

It is one of the first such complaints. People duping in the name of finding a kidney donor is rampant even though it is illegal in the country.
