B’luru: BMTC bus catches fire, no casualties reported

Bengaluru: A Bangalore Metropolitan Transport Corporation (BMTC) bus caught fire near Makkalakoota signal in Chickpet Police Station limits on Friday January 21. As many as 25 passengers have escaped unhurt after the incident.

According to sources, the driver of a bus (Route 43B) travelling from Kempegowda Bus Station to Hosakerehalli noticed the fire at 11.30 am. The BMTC said in a statement that the driver’s timely alert helped all passengers deboard the bus.

The Chief Mechanical Engineer and his team have been instructed to investigate the cause of the fire and submit a detailed report.

A passing water tanker assisted in putting out the fire, added the police.

Following a phone call from a member of the public, a fire tender rushed to the site to ensure that the situation was under control.
