Bengaluru: With the State Government clarification, the minority-run institution, Mount Carmel College in the City has allowed students of its pre-university college to attend class wearing the hijab.
The Government had clarified to the State High Court that restrictions on religious attire will not apply to private institutions. Also, earlier Sikh student of its PU college was asked to remove her turban on the basis of High Court’s February 10 order that no religious clothing be allowed in colleges with uniforms.
However, with clarification the restrictions could now be eased.
