Bengaluru: Bengaluru Development Minister K.J. George and his family’s wealth has more than doubled in the last five years.
His total assets, which was declared as part of his nomination papers on Monday, has zoomed to Rs. 80.18 crore from Rs. 31.54 crore in 2013. Similarly, his liabilities has increased from Rs. 29 lakh in 2013 to Rs. 48.08 crore.
The Congress candidate, who filed his nomination papers from Sarvagnanagar, has also declared that neither he nor his wife Suja George owns any vehicle.
He was among the many senior leaders who filed their nomination papers on the penultimate day. They include Agriculture Minister Krishna Byre Gowda, Rural Development and Panchayat Raj Minister H.K. Patil, Food and Civil Supplies Minister U.T. Khader and Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee President G. Parameshwar filing papers from their respective constituencies.
Two-time Congress MLA N.A. Haris, who had been kept on tenterhooks by the party till Sunday fearing a backlash after his son assaulted a youth last month, was among the many who filed nomination papers on Monday.
