Bengaluru: Customs Intelligence sleuths at Bengaluru’s Air Cargo recovered 46.799 kg of ephedrine worth Rs. 9.23 Crore on Saturday March 19. The drug was hidden inside kitchen utensils and was due for export to Australia, informed customs officials.
According to sources, the officials were notified by intelligence officials about possible contraband smuggling through air courier. Following this, they scanned the consignments and discovered 46 kg of banned ephedrine in packets hidden at the bottom of the utensils.
The consignment was due for dispatch to Australia via Chennai. Customs officials have registered a case under the NDPS Act and are investigating.
