B’luru trucker held in Mumbai, fined Rs 40k by Court for killing stray dog

Bengaluru: In a peculiar incident, a truck driver from the City has been arrested for allegedly running over a stray dog in Andheri (West) in the morning hours of Monday April 4.

The accused has been identified as Gausa Shaikh Pasha. He was produced before a magistrate court and given bail on the surety of Rs. 40,000. Pasha’s vehicle too has been seized.

Simon Rodriques, a marketing professional witnessed the incident and alerted the police. An FIR has been registered against the accused under Indian Penal Code (IPC) sections 279 (rash driving) and 429 (mischief by killing or maiming cattle, etc., of any value or any animal of the value of fifty rupees) and section 11 (treating animals cruelly) of the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act.
