Bengaluru: The Bengaluru West division police cracked 559 cases and arrested 309 suspects. The police recovered 18.36 kg gold, 16.30 kg silver and 236 stolen vehicles and other property worth Rs 7.46 crore from the suspects.
City police commissioner T Suneel Kumar said burglaries are reported everyday in the city. “This can be prevented by securely locking doors and windows and by keeping tabs on strangers. Residents must also deposit their valuables in a bank locker,” he said.
Installation of alarms, CCTV cameras and motion detectors can also prevent burglaries, he said.
Kumar said burglars target houses with huge door locks and where newspapers, milk sachets and letters are lying unclaimed in front of the house and houses which do not have CCTV cameras.
Kumar also advised people not to park their vehicles without hand locks and suggested installing alarms and GPS systems to prevent vehicle thefts.
