Bengaluru: The Karnataka High Court on Friday February 4 has decided to place a portrait of Dr. B. R. Ambedkar, the architect of the Constitution, at all official functions of the High Court of Karnataka, including the Principal Bench in Bengaluru, Benches in Dharawad and Kalaburagi, as well as District and Taluk courts.
A decision was made in the full court meeting held on Friday. The Registrar General asked the Additional Registrar Generals in the Dharwad and Kalaburagi Benches, as well as the District judiciary unit heads to instruct all courts within their jurisdiction to take appropriate action, stated a circular issued by Registrar General T. G. Shivashankaregowda.
Mallikarjun Gouda, Raichur’s Principal District and Sessions Judge, clarified that a false campaign was launched against him because he insisted on the removal of Ambedkar’s portrait from the dais.
