Bengaluru: State BJP president B S Yeddyurappa on Wednesday threatened to launch statewide agitation if the police failed to arrest the killers of RSS activist Rudresh within a week.
Speaking at a dharna organized by the BJP at Mourya Circle in Bengaluru to condemn the poor law and order situation in the state, Yeddyurappa blamed the state government for trying to create such situation on par with Kerala and Bihar. “We do not want this government to continue. We will wait for a week. If police fail to arrest the killers of Rudresh, we will go ahead with our plan for Karnataka bandh,” Yeddyurappa said.
Advising the police to take all measures to nab the culprits, Yeddyurappa said the police should not succumb to political pressure. “We are with the police. They need not worry about any pressure. This government will be in power only for 18 months,” he said.
Recalling former revenue minister Srinivas Prasad’s statement on how MLAs were inducted into the Cabinet, he opined that such statements have exposed the chief minister.
Speaking on the occasion, former deputy chief minister R Ashok opposed the state government’s plan for organising Tipu Sultan anniversary. “The government is indulging in vote-bank politics. Let it organize the birth anniversary of Dr APJ Abdul Kalam,” Ashok said.
Coming down heavily on the deteriorating law and order situation in the state, Ashok said five members of RSS and BJP were killed and more than six RSS activists were attacked in the state, but the police made no arrests till now.
