Bengaluru: BJP state unit president and former chief minister B S Yeddyurappa has written a letter to the Election Commission of India (ECI), requesting the appointment of special observers for the Hassan, Mandya and Tumakuru Lok Sabha constituencies.
In the letter, BSY alleged that in all these three constituencies, the state government machinery is being misused by the JDS for the benefit of former prime minister H D Devegowda’s family. “The officers are threatened. The law is violated. Model Code of Conduct is violated openly. But authorities are silent,” he alleged.
BSY pointed out that only special central observers only can ensure a free and fair election in these three constituencies. “The ECI must announce these constituencies as hypersensitive and send additional central observers,” he said.
