Bengaluru: Chief Minister B S Yediyurappa has made it clear that there are no immediate plans to expand his Cabinet. This has disappointed the 12 newly elected MLAs who switched from other parties to the BJP in order to become ministers.
Speaking to the reporters, Yediyurappa explained that Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah asked him to meet them only after the first week of January, due to the nation-wide protest against the Citizenship (Amendment) Act and NRC.
“I can expand the Cabinet only after January 14. The newly-elected MLAs are aware of this,” he said. He also denied the reports that newly-elected MLAs are upset with him for the delay in the Cabinet expansion. It can be recalled that yesterday, it was reported that newly-elected BJP MLA from Yeshwantpur S T Somashekar expressed displeasure over the delay in the Cabinet expansion.
“No one has approached us to ask about our choice of ministry in the Cabinet,” he was reported to have said.
