Call 100 if you spot ‘home quarantine’ violators: B’luru top cop tells public

rao mBengaluru: City-based home quarantine violators will be picked up, arrested and sent to government quarantine, said a top cop on Monday.

“Please call 100, these people (violators) will be picked up, arrested and sent to government quarantine,” said Bengaluru city Police Commissioner Bhaskar Rao.

He received calls from concerned Bengaluru denizens of home quarantine stamped people boarding city buses and loitering in restaurants.

According to Rao, 5,000 home quarantine stampings were marked on coronavirus suspects to ensure they remain at home in public interest.

By Monday morning, Karnataka witnessed 27 virus positive cases across the state.

Meanwhile, Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) has deferred budget presentation amid Coronavirus contagion.

The civic body’s budget was scheduled to be presented on March 27, which now will be decided after March 31.

Speaking at the Vidhan Souda, Karnataka Health Minister B. Sriramulu has said the government is taking the lockdown very seriously.

He said the government will buy 15 lakh masks and 1,000 ventilators for COVID-19 patients.

Sriramulu assured that all safety measures are in place to combat Coronavirus and promised to tour all the virus affected districts.

Similarly, state Revenue Minister R. Ashoka said that there are enough funds for Coronavirus and highlighted that district deputy commissioners can use funds from the NDRF Fund.
