CBI arrests NHAI’s officer, four others for taking bribe

Bengaluru: CBI on Friday December 31 arrested Regional Officer of National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) Bengaluru and four others in a bribery case.

The arrested are identified as Akil Ahmad, Regional Officer, NHAI, Retnakaran Sajilal, General Manager, Devendra Jain, Executive Director, Sunil Kumar Verma, official and Anuj Gupta. Five arrested are allegedly involved in a bribery case amounting to Rs. 20 lakh.

CBI is conducting searches at the premises of the accused at New Delhi, Bengaluru, Gurugram, Bhopal, and Kochi among others. The officials have recovered Rs 4 Crore so far.
