Bengaluru: Chief Minister Siddaramaiah is expected to convene all-party meet to discuss the latest developments and the future course of action on the issue of sharing Mahadayi river water.
It may be recalled the Mahadayi Water Dispute Tribunal last month had advised chief ministers of Goa, Karnataka and Maharashtra to try to arrive an amicable settlement through negotiations. Goa Chief Minister Laxmikant Parsekar on Monday convened an all-party meet to discuss whether to attend meeting with Chief Minsiters of Karnataka and Maharashtra. Leaders of all political parties felt the chief minister of Goa need not attend the meeting with Chief Ministers of Karnataka and Maharashtra but in order to honour the decision of Mahadayi Water Dispute Tribunal he can go ahead with the schedule.
The meeting, under the leadership of Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, is scheduled to be held in Goa on October 21. According to reliable sources, Chief Minister Siddramaiah plans to convene the all-party meeting on October 18 or 19. It may be recalled Siddaramaiah had convened all-party meeting four times to discuss about the Supreme Court order to release Cauvery water to Tamil Nadu. The proposed meeting of all political parties would be the first meeting on Mahadayi water dispute.
