Let BJP condemn its own Union Min who said he eats beef: Khader

Chikkaballapur: Anti-cow slaughter bill was first enforced by former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi. If BJP really has love for the nation, let it pass a new law against cow slaughter, challenged Health minister U T Khader here on Wednesday, November 4.

People must be aware of welfare schemes : U T Khader-1The minister lambasted at the BJP leaders during the review meeting at the Chikkaballapur District panchayath auditorum.

“They have misinterpreted the beef comment made by CM Siddaramaiah. State BJP leaders are trying to hide its own central government’s failures and have been indulging in vote bank politics ahead of Taluk and District panchath elections with beef row. BJP leaders and activists who are protesting against CM Siddaramaiah first should condemn and protest against their own union minister Rijiju who had made a statement that he too consumes beef”, Khader challenged.

Earlier, CM Siddaramaiah taking a stand on the ongoing beef controversy had made a statement that he was not scared of the BJP or rightwing activists. “I have not eaten beef so far, but I am free to eat whenever and whatever I like. This is my fundamental right guaranteed under the Constitution,” he said.

Enraged with the CM’s remark, BJP held demonstrations at various places, while one of the local BJP leader from Shivamogga also threatened to behead the CM if he consumed beef. However, he was detained by the Shivamogga police on charges of making a controversial comment.

Minister of State for Home Affairs Kiren Rijiju who was on a visit to Aizawl had reportedly made a statement: “I eat beef, I’m from Arunachal Pradesh, can somebody stop me? So let us not be touchy about somebody’s practices. This is a democratic country. Sometimes, some statements are made which are not palatable.”
