The deceased has been identified as Qalandar Khan. He was a fourth-grade student at Shidlaghatta’s Urdu Higher Primary School.

According to the sources, the boy’s father, a daily-wage labourer, had gone out in the morning. The boy who came out of the house was ambushed by a group of more than 20 dogs. The boy had succumbed to the injuries sustained in the dog attack by the time the people arrived to save him. His clothes were torn apart and he had bite marks all over his body.

Villagers expressed their dissatisfaction with the local government for failing to address the menace caused by dogs despite their warning about it previously.
