Chitradurga: According to sources, a 210-ft tall bronze statue of 12th-century social reformer Basavanna is set to be built on a 16-acre plot of land at Sri Jagadguru Murugharajendra Brihanmutt in Chitradurga.

A team of artists from West Bengal are working on the project under the guidance of Tejendra Singh Baoni G., Principal of Karnataka Chitrakala Parishat, Bengaluru. By 2024, the project, which includes a theme park that reflects the soul of India, is expected to be completed.

According to the plan, the statue will be placed on a platform built over an eight-storey building at a height of 170 ft from the ground.

On all floors of the building, there will be depictions of the lives and works of other saints from that era, as well as inputs from Indian literature, culture, and tradition. On 80 acres of land, a “theme park” depicting a miniature of India with an amphitheatre would be built.

Expert sculptors from across the country have been invited to review the work and provide feedback.
