Chitradurga: Illegal poaching, six inter-state suspects held

Chitradurga: Six inter-state notorious thieves have been arrested for illegally selling leather of wild animals in the forest areas of the District.

Holalkere and Hosadurga Forest Department personnel have busted a gang of six thieves who were illegally hunting wild animals in various parts of the State and in the forest areas in the Taluk and selling their leather, meat, horns and other parts illegally to other States.

It is alleged that the accused had hunted several animals including Black Buck, Rabbit, Boar, Shell Pig and other animals in the surrounding forest areas including Upparigenahalli, Golihosahalli, Kumaranahalli, Kittadahalli, Neralkatte, Ghattihosahalli on the border of Holalkere and Hosadurga by hunting and selling their skin to inter-state thieves at different places.

The arrested have been identified as Hiriyuru Shivakumar, Kamathamarigunte Girish, Kamathamarigunte Thimmaiah and Akeela M. G., Kerehindalahatti Thippayya and Ullarthi S. Manjunatha were arrested by Holalakere and Hosadurga Forest Department Officials and various accessories worth lakhs of rupees were seized from them.
