Chitradurga: Murugharajendra matha seer Shivamurthy judicial custody extended till September 27. The seer and hostel warden have not been granted bail on Wednesday by a local court here.

According to sources, the victims claimed they feared for their life if the accused was granted bail. The hostel warden was taken to Shivamogga Prison, whereas Shivamurthy will be lodged in the prisons of the Chitradurga District.

The Mysuru police lodged a complaint against Shivamurthy Muruga Sharanaru on August 26 under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POSCO) Act, 2012, and Section 376 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) pertaining to rape. The girls informed the State Child Welfare Committee’s members that they had been abused sexually between January 1, 2019, and June 6, 2022, leading to the filing of the complaint. The case was later transferred to the Chitradurga District Police.
