Chitradurga: Farmers and traders dumped tomatoes on the roadside after the price crash. The incident was reported from Gulagondanahalli Village in Chitradurga District.

Avinash, a trader from Bidar was transporting tomatoes to Bengaluru. After knowing that prices have been crashed, he dumped 120 boxes of tomatoes on the roadside in the village.

“I may not even get the transportation cost if I sell them in Bengaluru. So, I decided to stop the travel midway so that I can save some money on the diesel,” said Avinash.

Guruswamy, a local farmer also dumped the tomato on the road side citing high transport cost and low prices. “I had spent Rs.1.20 lakh on tomato cultivation. Now due to the price crash, I am dumping it on the road side,” he informed reporters at the village.
