Chitradurga: Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai announced that the State Government has decided to approve a proposal to extend crop insurance to pomegranate and other horticulture crops as well.
The drinking water project for 171 villages in Chitradurga and 131 villages in Hiriyur has been approved, including filling irrigation lakes in Hiriyur from the Vedavati river lift irrigation project, said Bommai in his address after launching a series of development projects. “The tender process for filling Dharmapura and seven other irrigation lakes was started at a cost of Rs. 40 Crore, with an additional Rs. 50 Crore has been allocated for supplementary works. He informed that the tendering process for these projects will be finished within a month (CMO),” he added.
“Prime Minister Modi’s ambitious project to provide tap drinking water to every home is well underway in the State. Last year, about 25 lakh homes were connected, and another 25 lakh homes will be connected this year,” said Bommai.
“A government medical college has been approved to improve health facilities for the residents of this region. The Tumakuru-Chitradurga-Davanagere railway line will begin construction soon. Belagavi, Davanagere, Chitradurga, and Dharawad will also have industrial townships,” Bommai explained.
Bommai explained about his government’s development and welfare projects, saying that about 7,000 new classrooms are being built in government schools, 100 Primary Health Centers are being upgraded, and Rs. 500 Crore has been set aside for senior citizens’ health care, including free eye surgeries and the distribution of cochlear hearing aids.
“The Upper Bhadra and Ettinahole projects would transform the lives of local farmers. The Union Government has identified Upper Bhadra as a National Project,” he noted.
