Bengaluru: The CID, which is investigating the case of drugging of horse Queen Latifa, recommended the state government to form a monitoring committee to oversee the day to day functions of the Bengaluru Turf Club (BTC).
In its recommendation to the state government based on its investigation findings, the CID left the formation of the committee, members, powers, and duties of the monitoring committee to the discretion of the state government.
The state government, earlier this year handed over horse Queen Latifa drugging incident to the CID investigation as it was alleged that horses are drugged to improve their performance.
It was alleged that Queen Latifa was drugged in March 2017 races.
According to the CID sources, even though this practice was followed in the BTC for a long time and few members had raised voice, no inquiry was made. “No police complaint was lodged. So keeping all these in mind, the government must form a monitoring committee,” suggested CID officers.
