Bengaluru: Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai on Monday March 21 announced approval for opening of 340 new libraries.

He was speaking after inaugurating ‘Grama DG Vikasana-2022’ organised by Shikshana Foundation, Dell International Services and Rural Development and Panchayat Raj Department.

Gram Panchayats need to be formed in the new Taluks and he said that he will issue orders in this regard immediately. The 340 libraries will opened this year itself along with digitisation of 3409 libraries, he stressed.

Digital knowledge has improved in rural areas due to use of mobile phones, and also digitised Gram Panchayat libraries have helped develop people’s personality. Further, he appreciated ‘Grama DG Vikasana’ as a remarkable programme to create awareness on digitisation in rural areas.
