CM Bommai bats for police tech wing to check economic, cybercrimes

Bengaluru: A short conference of senior police officers was held at the office of the Director General of Police on Monday September 6 under the chairmanship of Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai.

Addressing the conference CM Bommai has directed the State police top officials to form a separate technical wing to check economic and cybercrimes.

Further, he appreciated that the State Police have succeeded in controlling the drug mafia across the State and ensured that the government’s policy of zero tolerance to drugs, gambling and sand mafia as well as other kinds of organised crimes.

CM expressed the need for an internal security division (ISD) and the establishment of the National Defence Academy-model training centre to provide training to all middle-level officers besides the purchase of high-speed boats for effective surveillance of the coastal region.

On the occasion, CM Bommai released the Karnataka State Police coffee book, a booklet on compensation for departmental employees who died while in service. Similarly, Bommai launched the Facial Recognition System for persons with a criminal background.

Home Minister Araga Jnanendra, Chief Secretary P. Ravikumar, Director General of Police Praveen Sood, Home Department Additional Chief Secretary Rajneesh Goyal, Principal Secretary to CM Manjunath Prasad and other senior police officers were present.
