Bengaluru: To discuss Cabinet reshuffle and final full-fledged budget of the BJP Government just before 2023 Assembly polls, it is learnt that Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai will visit New Delhi after Tuesday April 5 to meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman.
This meet also follows the Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M. K. Stalin’s meeting with PM Modi on Thursday March 31 seeking the extension of GST compensation to states by another two years beyond June 2022. CM Bommai’s meeting with Nirmala Sitharaman will be more significant as he is the Chairman of Group of Ministers (GoM) on GST rationalisation.
CM Bommai will explain the essence of his budget and its repercussions on the government and the party to the national leadership. He also has to impress on the central leadership to release the grant-in-aid to the State. CM Bommai, who also held an all-party meeting on inter-state water disputes, also piloted an unanimous resolution condemning Tamil Nadu’s resolution against the Mekedatu Project. Bommai is also likely to meet Jal Shakti Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat.
Cabinet reshuffle and appointments to boards and corporations may also come up during CM Bommai’s Delhi visit.
