Bengaluru: Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai on Monday January 31 has given title deeds to beneficiaries of a one lakh multi-storey housing scheme for the poor, as well as cheques to citizens who lost family members to Covid in the first and second waves in Mahadevapura zone.
CM Bommai has acknowledged that the rules for allocating sites are complicated, but he promised that they would be simplified. “The State Government will take steps in that regard, allowing the poor to own sites and homes. The beneficiaries should be able to make payments in instalments with ease,” he said.
The Rajiv Gandhi Housing Corporation is implementing a housing scheme that will result in the distribution of 46,000 houses. The CM has directed officials to distribute title deeds for the remaining 64,000 houses by December of this year.
He said that once all of the title deeds have been given and the project has proven to be successful, he will take on another project. He directed officials to construct a satellite township with all the facilities for the poor in Bengaluru, saying it should be self-sustaining and have strong connections and facilities. “It is imperative to provide housing in urban areas since owning a site or a home in cities and towns is challenging. It’s a social problem. To live a dignified life, one needs shelter over one’s head, food, and water,” he said.
Construction of four lakh houses in rural areas, one lakh houses in urban areas, and 97,000 houses in slums are now underway, with the majority of these projects coming under the Pradhan Mantri Awaas Yojana.
