Bengaluru: Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai on Monday December 27 has launched Bengaluru’s first electric bus services and 150 Bharat Stage-VI diesel buses.
The non-AC electric buses are 9-metre-long with 33+1 seats. The buses comprise vehicle tracking units, CCTVs, LED route display boards and emergency panic buttons.
The Bengaluru Smart City Limited has extended financial assistance to the tune of Rs. 50 crore for operating these buses.
Among the electric buses, 90 funded under the Bengaluru Smart City Scheme will be providing last-mile connectivity to the Bengaluru Metro.
Meanwhile, the BMTC is procuring 565 BS-VI diesel buses having 41+1 seats of which 150 BS-VI buses have already been delivered.
