Bengaluru: Discontentment is brewing in the JDS-Congress coalition house and keeping this in mind, Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy is likely to defer the proposed Cabinet expansion.
There are three cabinet vacancies at present and the CM wants to fill those places. If sources are to be believed then the CM plans to induct Ranebennur MLA R Shankar of Karnataka Pragnavantha Janatha Party and independent MLA H Nagesh from Mulbagal into the Cabinet. The remaining one would go to the coalition partner, the Congress. But, it is also said that JDS Supremo HD Devegowda is against induction of Shankar and Nagesh.
But, all seems to be going wrong after senior leaders R Roshan Baig and Ramalinga Reddy recently lashed out at the party leadership for paying importance to “immigrants” over party veterans. The CM is well aware of the long list of MLA awaiting to get the berth and if denied a post, they are surely going to switch sides. It is said that the CM now feels that cabinet expansion at this vulnerable juncture of time can cost him dear.
