Bengaluru: One of the concerns expressed by the senior Congress leaders against the Gowda family of the JDS is that they are known for politically smart moves, which always hurts the coalition partner. On Thursday night, the Congress leaders including former CM Siddaramaiah were found at the receiving end of one such moves. In a move that is aimed at safeguarding his personal image, CM HD Kumaraswamy decided to give a miss to the main event related to the Tipu Jayanti celebrations. Instead, DCM Dr. Parameshwar will inaugurate the Tipu Jayanthi at the Vidhana Soudha.
The Vidhana Soudha witnessed hectic political activities on Thursday on account of the Tipu Jayanti celebrations. The day started with CM HDK stating that Tipu Jayanti will be celebrated not in the banquet hall of the Vidhana Soudha but at Ravindra Kalaksherta. Even though DCM Parameshwar agreed for the same, other Congress leaders opposed it. Later in the evening when the inaugural event invitation cards were printed, Congress leaders were shocked as HDK’s name was missing.
According to the sources, HDK doesn’t want to get into any controversy in the name of Tipu Jayanti. So he decided to skip the event. As per the official invitation, DCM G Parameshwar will inaugurate the event. As the news spread, the Congress leaders who were upset by this move met former CM Siddaramaiah and lodged a complaint. He also expressed his unhappiness over CM’s decision saying it will create a rift between both the parties.
