CM to BBMP: Complete Rs 7,300 crore worth developmental works by March 2017

Bengaluru: Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on Wednesday directed the Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) to complete Rs 7,300 crore worth developmental works under progress by end of March 2017.

Strict action will be taken against such authorities and engineers for the delay in completing the works,’’ the chief minister said.

He also directed the BBMP Commissioner to resume the clearing encroachment of storm water drains in the city. He also made it clear that developmental works under Tender SURE scheme should be completed by July 2017.

Meanwhile, BMBP Commissioner N Manjunatha Prasad has told the chief minister that clearing of the encroachment of storm water drains was stopped for 20 days due to the lack of surveyors. “The drive to clear encroachment of storm water drains will commence from tomorrow,’’ BBMP Commissioner said.

According to the BBMP Commissioner, the state government had allocated Rs 7,300 crore under Chief Minister’s Nagarothana scheme and out of the total amount, Rs 3208 crore for 2016-17 and Rs 4092 crore for 2017-18. “White-topping work on Hosur Road, Magadi Road, Banneraghatta Road, Old Madras Road will begin in January and completed by December 2017. The project report for the development of roads at Gnadhinagar, Kalasipalya, Brigade Road, Church Street is ready and the work is expected to commence in the second week of February,’’ he said.

According to him, the measures would be taken to commence the work on the flyovers at Ejipura, Shivananda Circle, Minerva Circle and Banaswadi. “The development works at all lakes will be completed by December 2017. Grade separator work at Rashtrothana Junction, Jalahalli Cross Junction, Aroma Bakery near Yelahanka will begin in February and completed by December. The work taken up under Tender SURE scheme at Cunningham Road, St Mark’s Road, Vittal Mallya Road, Museum Road and Commissariat Road and KG Road has been completed and the work on Residency Road, Richmond Road, Nrupathunga Road, Modi Hospital Road, Siddaiah Puranik Road and Jayanagar 11th Main Road is in progress,’’ he said.

He said the work on the flyover at Rajajinagar 10th Main Road has been completed and the grade separator work on Magadi Road and Basaveswaranagar Main Road is in progress.
